Description
Ace Office Machines carries a variety of 2-hole and 3-hole punches in manual and electronic versions, from manufacturers you know and trust, including Carl, GBC Swingline and Master - Martin Yale.

The hole punch, sometimes called a hole puncher or paper puncher, is a common tool found in any office, used to create holes in sheets of paper when those papers will be placed in a binder or similar container. Did you know the patent for the hole punch dates back to Germany in the 1880s? Such a simple device has lived on in usefulness and popularity through the ages, despite so many modern advances in technology.

The hole punch uses a long lever to push a bladed cylinder through the paper to create the desired hole. The simple design of the hole punch means you can align holes in your paper in a multitude of ways to get it just as you want it. Of course, industrial hole punchers are a bit more sophisticated than the familiar handheld variety. When hundreds of sheets of paper must be punched at once, the lever arms are much longer to create more force. The common standard for the dimensions and location of industrial hole punching is International Standard ISO 838. Most industrial hole punchers can accommodate up to 470 sheets of paper at once.

In the United States, the 2 or 3-hole punch is widely used, with the 3-hole punch the most common. Holes are positioned symmetrically, with the centers 108 mm (4-1/4 in) apart, while hole diameters vary.

To prepare a document for comb binding, 19-hole punches are required for letter paper and 23-hole punches for A4 paper.
