And the FCX Clarity Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) passed the same tests—those required by NHTSA and U.S. federal safety standards—as other Honda models have endured. So you can drive the FCX Clarity FCEV with confidence. Six airbags are standard. Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA^®)* and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) systems are standard. Even a Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) is present and accounted for. Next Best Thing to a Co-Pilot Honda Motor Co., Ltd introduced the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) in 2003, and we have now added it to the FCX Clarity FCEV. CMBS™ can help alert the driver to certain potential collisions and, through the use of visual and audio alerts plus an automatic tug of the seat belt, prompt the driver to take action. If a collision cannot be avoided, the system automatically retracts slack in the front seat belts and applies braking force to reduce the vehicle's speed and help lessen the force of the collision.** Honda has also taken safety precautions with regard to the hydrogen fuel system and refueling safety.
